Match Report SL vs WI 1st ODI – Last Over Encounter, Hasaranga did it for Srilanka



From 111-0 to 289 -10, there is a nip of nerves on both the side but at last Wanindu Hasaranga made it with the tailenders to reach the target of 290 as Sri Lanka wins the first ODI against West Indies by 1 wicket. Shai Hope century and Windies huge comeback in the 2nd innings goes in vain as West Indies trail the series by 0-1.

After winning the toss, Sri Lanka elected to bowl first due to freshness in the pitch which results in the early wicket of Sunil Ambris. On the other hand, Shai Hope plays a skillful game with other batsman made him to score his 9th Century in ODI career. At last West Indies managed to score 289 runs as Keemo Paul and Hayden Walsh gives the energy boost to the Scoreboard.

By Chasing the Total, Sri Lanka produces a good start with the Opening Partnership of 111 runs. Dimuth Karunarathunae and Avishko Fernando had a good start but rest of the batsman falls rapidly in the middle over puts SriLanka on the Pressure. In the end, Wanindu Hasaranga and the tail Enders produces the remarkable victory for Sri Lanka with the 5 balls to spare. Man of the match goes to Wanindu Hasaranga for his brilliant underpressure Batting and his economical Bowling Spell. 

Sri Lanka leads the 3 Match ODI Series by 1-0 and the Second ODI between these Sides to be held on Tuesday in Hambantota.
